| Both Goyce and his brother Joshim were influenced by their brother-in-law Norval Morrisseau. Both self-taught, they began painting in their teens and by the early seventies became recognized as professional artists in their own right. Both artists literally exploded onto the contemporary art scene, impacting it, and their own communities, with great fervor. They had difficulty being accepted by commercial and public galleries and museums across the country. Today, their works can be found in the numerous public and private collections throughout North America and Europe, including the permanent collections of the Museum of Civilization and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
