Wilhelm Hess
(1913 - 1995)

Hess arrived in Cape Breton from West Germany in 1951. He worked first as a farm labourer and eventually opened a toy store in Inverness. He often exhibited his paintings by nailing them to the outside walls of his shop. His work can be found in the permanent collection of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and was included in an exhibit sponsored by the gallery that toured the British Isles in 1989.
