Ted Gordon (early work)

Thanks to everyone who came by for the opening of the Thomas Rector exhibit, which continues to June 30th. This week we received several Ted Gordon "opera" pieces from the Rosenak collection. Gordon (b. 1924), whose work can be found in many permanent museum collections worldwide (www.lighthouse.ca/gordon.html ) is one of only three artists named in the dedication to the 1996 edition of the Rosenak’s "Contemporary American Folk Art: A Collector’s Guide" The Rosenaks describe him as a "personal favorite" and note that "some consider his early drawings, done on the back of posters advertising the San Francisco opera, as his benchmark work." Some of these early pieces, done between 1967 and 1969, should be on the Black Sheep web site before the end of June.

Thomas Rector Exhibition

We are busy preparing for the Tom Rector exhibition (www.lighthouse.ca/trector.html) which opens June 4th, and are pleased to have gathered together more than 20 pieces of his work, which has become increasingly difficult to find since his passing in 2003. We have already had inquiries about Tom's work from as far away as California, and are looking forward to a good turnout.
